Lynn Willard MA, MSW, LCPC, LCSW
Lynn Willard earned her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from Illinois State University in 1974 and 1975 respectively. She completed her Master of Social Work in 1992 at the University of Illinois. She has worked in child welfare for nearly 25 years, and has done clinical work in sexual abuse since 1990. Lynn started ABC Counseling and Family Services in 1992 to meet the needs for child sexual abuse assessment and treatment.
Lynn Necessary
Lynn Necessary has been working at ABC Counseling and Family Services since 1999. She serves as the administrative assistant and billing coordinator.
Doug Necessary
Doug Necessary serves ABC Counseling and Family Services as the volunteer computer technician. He maintains the local network and file backup procedures, as well as maintaining security for the ABC servers.
Amanda Black, BA
Amanda Black earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Minnesota in 2002. She began working at ABC as the Adoption Supervisor in 2004 after being certified by DCFS for adoption work. Amanda works with birthparents to formulate adoption plans, approves adoptive parent applications and provides post-placement services for both domestic and international adoptions. Julie Mendez
Julie Mendez, a Bloomington native, earned her bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Texas State University in San Marcos. She served as an AmeriCorps member, worked with young mothers living within the Texas foster care system, and worked with a school-based social service agency partnering with the Housing Authority of the City of Austin. Julie is thrilled to back in Central Illinois, along with her husband, Marcos, and three children. She feels honored to be chosen as a new Adoption Specialist, and looks forward to helping Illinois families grow, while offering counseling and resources to birth couples making this difficult decision. Tom Jenkins MA, LPC
Thomas (Tom) Jenkins earned an Associates Degree from Illinois Central College in 1985, followed by a Bachelor of Science degree from Illinois State University in 1987. His Master of Arts in Counseling was obtained from Liberty University in 2002. Tom brings over 20 years of experience working with abused and behavioral disordered children to ABC. He works at ABC’s Normal office.
Laura Jennings-Mitchell, LCSW
Laura Jennings-Mitchell earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Knox College in 2001, and completed her Master of Social Work degree at Illinois State University in 2003. She first interned at ABC, and was hired to the full time staff immediately after. Laura works at ABC’s Normal office and now serves as its Clinical Director.
Melissa Box
Melissa is currently finishing her graduate studies at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She is pursuing a joint degree, a Masters in Human and Community Development and a Masters in Social Work. She completed a one-semester internship in the spring of 2010, and was subsequently hired part-time as an Administrative Assistant. She is currently completing her MSW internship as a sexual abuse therapist in the Normal office, and will graduate in December of 2011.
Dave Metcalfe MS, LPC
Dave Metcalfe earned his Bachelor of Science degree at Illinois State University in 1988 and his Master of Science degree in Counselor Education in 1990. He has completed 80 hours of Illinois Department of Family Services’ training in working with Sexually Aggressive Children and Youth (SACY). Dave supervises ABC’s Decatur office.
Sarah Maurer, LCSW
Sarah Maurer earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Illinois University in 2008, followed by her Master of Social Work from the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign in 2009. Sarah earned her License of Social Work to work in Illinois after graduation. Sarah started out as an intern for ABC Counseling at the Champaign office in 2009 and was employed thereafter.
Teri McKean, MSW, LCSW, SOMB
Teri McKean graduated with her Master of Social Work degree in May 2008 from the University of Illinois – Chicago. Upon graduation, Teri began employed as a sexual abuse therapist with ABC’s Champaign, Illinois, office. Teri supervises ABC’s Champaign office.
Jackie Lewis LPC, NCC
Jackie Lewis is a sexual abuse therapist in ABC’s Champaign, Illinois office. Jackie received her Master of Science degree from Western Illinois University in 2009. Jackie began as an intern with ABC and was employed thereafter.
Yoli Six, MA, NCC, LPC
Yoli earned her B.S. in Psychology from MacMurray College in 2006 and her M.A. in Human Development Counseling from the University of Illinois Springfield in 2010. She began as an intern at ABC in 2009, and upon completing her Master’s Thesis on sexuality, she was hired full-time in the Springfield office. She has experience working with youth in a psychiatric hospitalization setting and pregnant teens.
Rachel Kurtz
Rachel Kurtz earned her Bachelor of Social Work degree from Harding University in 2009 and earned her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2010. Rachel began her internship at ABC in January of 2010 and began employment in August of 2010. Rachel works three days in the Decatur office and two days in the Champaign office as a sexual abuse therapist.
Alicia Bell
Alicia Bell earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Western Illinois University in 2001, and earned her Master of Human Services degree, with a concentration in child and family studies, from University of Illinois at Springfield in 2005. Alicia is employed as a full-time sexual abuse therapist in ABC’s newly opened Pekin Office.
Liz Snyder
Liz Snyder, a student of art and mother of five, works part-time as the Development Coordinator for ABC. In addition to fund raising duties, she develops and maintains the website and social media presence.
