Robert Cashen, MSW
Springfield and Decatur
Robert graduated from Southern Illinois University with a Bachelors in Social Work in 1990 and earned his Master of Social Work degree at the University Of Illinois Chicago in 1992. After working as a play therapist and crisis interventionist in the Chicago area for several years, Robert moved to Los Angeles where he practiced as a psychotherapist for 17 years. While working with severely emotionally disturbed children and their families, Robert earned his Licensed Clinical Social Worker certification in 2000 in California. Robert moved to the United Kingdom in 2010, where he practiced as a psychotherapist for 9 years working therapeutically with children and families in the foster care system. He has a total of 29 years of clinical experience, including years of experience as a program manager, clinical supervisor, and consultant in developing the skills of trainee clinicians. Since moving back to Illinois a few months ago, Robert is in the process of having his Clinical License endorsed in the State of Illinois. Robert believes that we tend to play out similar patterns that are rooted in our trauma, abuse and neglect, and that people have the power to understand and heal those patterns towards building resilience and hope over trauma and abuse.
