Stephanie Williamson, MA

Springfield

Stephanie Adams is a therapist in the Springfield, IL office. Stephanie earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Minor in Sociology from Benedictine University in 2010, and completed her Master’s degree in Human Development Counseling at University of Illinois Springfield in 2016. She has over two years experience as a sexual abuse therapist, in addition to starting at ABC for her internship experience. She attended trainings that focus on play therapy, professional ethics and informed consent, and Attachment Therapy. Stephanie uses a cognitive-behavioral approach to therapy, and believes in the importance of the therapeutic alliance with her clients. She believes our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are interconnected, and we possess the power to change maladaptive patterns of thinking to reach our therapeutic goals. Stephanie has experience using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to address anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and issues related to trauma.
